Abstract
Alkyl acetates which carry secondary and tertiary alkyl groups have been found to have bifurcated bands in the carbonyl region of the infrared spectra. The origin of the bifurcated bands has been studied carefully, and it has been concluded that the Fermi resonance is the most probable origin of the phenomenon. Keywords
