Abstract
The photolysis of mercury dimethyl was investigated over the temperature range from 125° to 250 °C. The results indicate that methane is formed only by an abstraction reaction and ethane is formed only by recombination, at least under the conditions used in these experiments. It is concluded that the activation energy of the reaction[Formula: see text]is 10.8 ± 0.3 kcal./mole.Keywords
