Abstract
Length recovery vs time curves were obtained after release of wool fibers that had been held at 20% extension for various times, at various relative humidities, and at temperatures in the range 20° to 50° C. The forces in the fibers at all times prior to release were also measured. All changes in treatment prior to release led to changes in recovery, but many of the effects were small. Relative humidity remains the most important parameter. The activation energy of recovery was found to be approximately 650 cal mole. Keywords
