Abstract
Racial tension between African, Indian and European is a commonplace of writings on Kenya. The following account is an attempt to analyse the causes of this tension, and as it is intended as a prelude to a study of municipal government in Kenya it is concerned chiefly with conditions in the towns. The writer is a sociologist. It has unfortunately not proved possible to include a diagram of economic structure in the towns. Keywords
