Abstract
During fermentation of cigar leaf tobacco there is a considerable decrease of the nicotine in the leaf. About 50-70% of the disappearing nicotine is found in the leaves as pyridine compounds of a non-alkaloid nature. One fraction of these compds. is similar to, or identical with, the oxidation product of nicotine, containing 2 oxygen atoms, obtained by Weil (1948) by photo-oxidation of nicotine in the presence of meth-ylene blue. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
