MINERALOGY AND TECHNOLOGY OF NEW ECONOMIC TYPES OF TIN ORES

Abstract
Two important new tin deposits are of types different from any previously mined in the [former] Soviet Union or elsewhere. At Mushistan in Tajikistan, tin occurs as primary stannite in quartz veins and as secondary cassiterite and hydrostannates in the oxidized zone. At Syrymbet in Kazakhstan, cassiterite is extracted from the weathered mantle of a stock-work deposit. Although this report is directed largely toward practical questions of the amenability of the ore to beneficiation, it is important in calling attention to new deposit types of which the authors expect more to be discovered.
