Abstract
Appreciable quantities of 4‐vinyl pyridine and acrylamide have been grafted to nylon 6.6 by decomposing in their presence the peroxides and hydroperoxides formed on irradiating the polymer in air with γ‐rays. The kinetics of the grafting process is interpreted in terms of a diffusion of the monomer into the nylon. The enhanced dyeing of the amine grafts and the lowering of the surface resistance of the graft by quaternization with dimethylsulfate are also reported. Keywords
