Temperature profiles for reactions with self-heating

Abstract
It is shown that the steady temperature distribution for an exothermic reaction taking place in a sphere can be approximated by a simple function for values of the dimensionless heat production rate δ ≤ 2. Further, for 2 < δ ≤ 3, a simple iterative correction to this function yields temperature profiles, θ, which are nowhere in error by more than 1%, the error increasing to 5% at δ = 3.3.
