Photochemistry of 1,2-dibromoethane in solution. A model for the generation of hydrogen bromide

Abstract
Laser flash photolysis of 1,2-dibromoethane at 266 nm reveals the rapid formation of two bromine atoms as the primary photochemical step; the atoms are readily detected through their complexation with bromide to yield Br2[graphic omitted].
