Abstract
A long‐period Benioff vertical component seismograph (To = 1 sec, Tg = 90 sec) has been installed in the Riverside station, and a second horizontal component with similar constants has been added at Tinemaha. At Pasadena two three‐component sets of strong motion torsion instruments designed by F. E. Lehner are now recording on film. These have periods of approximately 0.8 sec and damping nearly critical. The effective magnifications, when viewed with a projector giving 8X magnification, are 100 and two respectively. On July 9 the six‐second period torsion instruments at Pasadena were rotated to record N 45°W and N 45°E.Keywords
