Abstract
Nematospiroides dubius infection in the Webster strain of mice produces a marked leukocytosis with approximately a 6-fold increase in total white cell counts. The leukocytosis is characterized as a relative neutrophilia and lymphopenia, but absolute values show an increase in all cell types. The condition is of relatively short duration and reaches a maximal level during the emergence of larvae from the intestinal wall. Experimental evidence indicates that the etiological agent is the nematode and that bacterial infection and hemorrhage play little or no part.
