Disc-overflow accretion in the intermediate polar FO Aquarii

Abstract
The Ginga X-ray light curve of FO Aqr shows spin, orbital, and beat period modulations. Norton et al. have interpreted this as resulting from diskless accretion. I show that the light curve is also compatible with a hybrid model in which accreting material flows through a disk and also in a stream above the disc. This alternative is supported by several lines of evidence.Keywords
