Elastic and magnetoacoustic effects in heavy-fermionCePb3

Abstract
We present experimental results of elastic constants as a function of temperature and magnetic field for CePb3. We observe crystal-field effects for Ce3+ (J=(5/2) with Γ7 the ground state and Γ8 76 K above. The B-T phase diagram gives the antiferromagnetic phase boundary and an additional phase boundary of unknown origin. For B>18 T and T≤0.8 K magnetoacoustic quantum oscillations are observed.
