Zinc-Cobalt alloy electrodeposition

Abstract
Corrosion resistant Zn-Co alloys have been electrodeposited from a commercial acid chloride based solution. The cobalt content of the bath, temperature, c.d., agitation and pH all affect the cobalt concentration of the alloy deposit. Control of temperature and cobalt content of the bath were best for regulating the alloy composition. Electrodeposits containing 0.6—0.8% Co showed 50–100% improvement in corrosion test results compared with conventional zinc.
