Abstract
Within 1 wk. a high fat diet induced a definite increase in the fat content and a decrease in the % of water and of protein in the skin and body of the albino rat. These changes were qualitatively the same but quantitatively not as large as those previously observed at the end of 70 days on the diet. The same sex differences in the composition of the skin were obtained on a high fat diet as on a stock and high carbohydrate diet. Drying of the animal tissues in a vacuum desiccator is a more reliable method for determining the water and fat content than drying in an oven at 100-105[degree] C.This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
