Abstract
A patient with glaucoma was poisoned with his echothiophate iodide eye drops and experienced an acute cholinergic crisis. Treatment with atropine and pralidoxime chloride produced a rapid recovery. While it is likely that the intoxication was by the oral route, it is possible that routine topical application alone was responsible. At least the partial cholinesterase depression produced by topical therapy predisposed the patient to crisis. Keywords
