The chemistry of the ‘insoluble red’ woods. Part XI. Revised structures of santalin and santarubin

Abstract
Revised structures for the pigments santalin and santarubin. from the ‘insoluble red’ woods are reported. These complex benzopyran-7-ones are derivatives of C30 skeletal structures and constitute novel, additional examples of plant products arising from the dimerisation of C15 flavonoid units.
