Abstract
Haploid, diploid and triploid plants in Petunia violacea have been produced by culturing anthers of early binucleate pollen on kinetin supplemented basal medium. Cytological studies reveal that non-haploid embryoids developed due to nuclear fusion at early stages of pollen embryogenesis. The significance of plants of various ploidy levels in this commonly cultivated species of Petunia is discussed. Keywords
