Abstract
Meniere's disease results from a constitutional inadequacy of the autonomic nervous system producing vasomotor imbalance. Vertigo is the cardinal and most characteristic symptom and the nature of the vertigo must be clearly established to reach a definite diagnosis. Diagnostic criteria and characteristic findings are described, as are functional tests and symptom patterns to aid in differentiating Meniere's disease from other disorders causing vertigo. Keywords
