Abstract
Randomly positioned, acute intestinal loops in vivo were used for studying absorption of cholate from a 1% solution of Ox Bile Extract in 1-hour periods. One such test was carried out in each if 17 rats. Cholate absorption increased from about 1[mu]. mole/cm/hour in the duodenum to about 4[mu] mole/cm/hour in the terminal ileum showing a roughly exponential relationship between absorptive capacity for cholate and mean distance from the pyloric sphincter. Keywords
