Problems of the Development of Large Cities

Abstract
The growth of modern cities is a consequence of the demands of the economic development of society. Increased productivity of social labor is inconceivable without an intensification of production, which presumes simultaneous utilization of vast masses of means of production and labor within limited space. Cities provide this spatial concentration. They make it possible to develop an advanced system of specialization and sub-contracting of the labor of society that substantially increases its productivity when compared to productivity of production dispersed over the entire territory.
