Abstract
HIGH-altitude pulmonary edema has, in recent years, aroused considerable interest all over the world. Houston1 and Hultgren and his co-workers2 , 3 have written papers on the subject. This new mountain malady was unrecognized in India until 1962. There had been occasional reports of "bronchopneumonia" occurring among persons going to high altitudes, and it had been noted with concern that, in spite of energetic treatment, the mortality in these cases was high.
