Abstract
In a search for the presence of low-lying quartet structures in the 1f-2p shell, a possible experimental approach is offered by performing direct α-transfer reactions with heavy ion beams such as 16O or 20Ne, on doubly even targets around the 40Ca, 48Ca and 56Ni cores. The overall features of these reactions, for incident energies in the vicinity of the Coulomb barrier, are in qualitative agreement with the predictions of a quartet model
