Abstract
Jean-Pierre Dozon: When the Pastorians hunted down sleeping sickness. While the Pastorians' activities in their home country is well-known, their work in the colonies is much less studied. The author focuses on the research they did on sleeping sickness or «trypanosomiasis», and attemps to explain a paradox: the Pastorians were eventually less efficient in the treatment of the disease than in a codification of health activities which allowed them to play a crucial role in the colonising process.
