Abstract
The data in this report demonstrate that in the pigeon neural activity in pathways descending from vestibular and reticular nuclei in the brain stem can directly influence spinal motor activity. The observations also show that in the pigeon the vestibular labyrinth is more closely associated with the activities of neck muscles than with hindlimb muscles. Although the vestibulospinal and reticulospinal tracts descend to all levels of the neuraxis, they do not seem to be relaying the same information to all segmental levels. Keywords
