Abstract
A survey of serum tocopherol levels of 125 subjects, staff and patients, at an Ottawa hospital was conducted. The mean serum tocopherol level for all subjects was 1.29 ± 0.34 mg/100 ml with a range of 0.70 to 2.5 mg/100 ml. No significant differences were observed between mean serum tocopherol levels of patients and staff members, smokers and nonsmokers, and men and women. Serum tocopherol levels of subjects 25 years old and younger were significantly lower than those over 25 years of age. No values were found in the deficiency range below 0.5 mg/100 ml.Keywords
