Abstract
The effect of gravity on the contact angle was calculated using a precise drop shape model. The drop shape, whose surface curvatures change under the influence of gravity, was calculated following Laplace's equation. The total free energy of the three interfacial free energies and the potential energy of the drop were calculated; the contact angle where the total free energy is minimal at each drop weight was defined as the equilibrium contact angle. These calculations indicate that gravity has no effect on the equilibrium contact angle. Keywords
