EFFECTS OF AMMONIUM PERCHLORATE ON THE GROWTH OF HOLSTEIN CALVES

Abstract
Holstein calves were fed identical diets supplemented with ammonium perchlorate at 0, 1.5 or 3.0 mg/kg body weight/day. There was a slight trend toward faster growth; however, there were no statistically significant differences. Ammonium perchlorate does not appear to be a useful growth promotant for young dairy calves under the conditions of these experiments.
