Abstract
Fifty-four patients, 36 with lateralized cerebral lesions, were given a battery of behavioral tests: Mill Hill Vocabulary, Knox Cubes, Modified Raven''s Matrices and WAIS Block Design. EEG data suggested the possibility of differences in loci and severity of lesion between the right and left brain lesion groups. The performance of patients with left-sided lesions was poorer than that of controls or of patients with right-sided lesions on the Mill Hill Vocabulary Test. The performance of all brain-damaged patients was poorer than that of controls on the "perceptual motor" tests; on the WAIS Block Designs, the performance of patients with right-sided lesions was poorer than that of patients with left-sided lesions. Results are discussed in terms of their relevance for understanding the effects of brain damage on intellectual functioning. Keywords
