Abstract
Auger electron energies and binding energies of Na metal and Na compounds are compared with values for the free atom and the free ion. An important component of the differences is associated with extra-closed core relaxation. A unified treatment of all electrons outside the core is presented, complementing the approach of partitioning into intra-atomic and extra-atomic relaxation by Kowalczyk et al.Keywords
