Abstract
Ionized Mg salts (MgC12) alone do not possess the coagulative activity of Ca salts, but they markedly enhance the effect of Ca. The enhancement is more apparent when the Ca ion concn. is relatively low and the concn. of Mg exceeds that of Ca. Thus, the action of Mg is secondary, the more essential role being played by Ca. The parallelism between the enhancing effect of Mg in the coagulative and complementary activities of the blood supports the theory of close relationship of the 2 phenomena.
