KARTAGENERS SYNDROME WITH ABSENCE OF INNER DYNEIN ARMS OF RESPIRATORY CILIA

Abstract
Morphologic abnormalities of spermatozoa and respiratory cilia at the EM occur in the immotile cilia syndrome and chronic respiratory diseases. Most often there is a total absence of the dynein arms. The absence of only the inner dynein arm in respiratory cilia from a boy with Kartagener''s syndrome is described, recording another variation in the abnormality of ciliary morphologic features believed to be recessively inherited.
