Abstract
A statistical analysis of thyroid carcinoma cases treated chiefly with I131 up to June 1, 1947, is presented. In the cases of non-toxic thyroid lesions (benign and malignant) an elective total thyroidectomy is suggested, in order to enhance in this manner the demand for thyroid hormone and to induce distant foci to take up the isotope. In cases with demonstrable metastases, admn. of thyrotropic hormone may further stimulate the activity and consequently the pick-up of I131 .Keywords
