Zn and Te desorption from the (100) ZnTe surface

Abstract
The Zn and Te desorption times from the (100) ZnTe surface have been studied as a function of temperature using reflection high-energy electron diffraction. For Zn desorption an activation energy of 1.8±0.1 eV is found. For Te, due to the existence of different bound states related to different surface reconstructions, c(2×2) and (2×1), activation energies of 1.7±0.1 and 2.50±0.05 eV have been measured.
