Acute Venous Thrombosis of Splenomesenteric Portal Axis: An Unusual Localization of Thromboembolism in the Nephrotic Syndrome

Abstract
The nephrotic syndrome has been frequently associated with thromboembolic episodes. We report the case of a patient affected by minimal change nephropaty which developed acute thrombosis of the splenomesenteric portal axis and partially recovered after thrombolytic and anticoagulant therapy. Unfortunately, the patient died of pulmonary embolism after suspension of the anticoagulant therapy for gastrointestinal bleeding.
