Parasitization of Natural Enemies Attacking the Cabbage Aphid on Cabbage in Southern California

Abstract
Weekly collections of late-stage larvae and puparia of syrphids and mummified (parasitized) Brevicoryne brassicae (L.) from successive plantings of cabbage in southern California in winter and spring of 1969–70 yielded 6 species of syrphids; 6 hymenopterous parasites of the syrphids: and 4 of B. brassicae. Allograpta obliqua (Say) was the most common syrphid and Diplazon laetatorius (F.), the most common parasite of the syrphids. Diaeretiella rapae (MacIntosh) was the only primary parasite of the cabbage aphid, and Alloxysta brassicae (Ashmead) was the most common hyperparasite.
