Abstract
Helicobacter pylori is a gram-negative spiral or curved microorganism sparking a great deal of interest as the medical implications of this pathogen become increasingly clear and significant. Researchers have confirmed that this bacterium is associated with gastritis and peptic ulcer disease. Recent data in particular indicate that infection by H pylori is a significant risk factor for development of gastric carcinoma and lymphoma. Precise identification of this microorganism, therefore, is imperative. Techniques for detecting H pylori can be time consuming, complex, and difficult to assess. This report outlines an easy, reproducible, and fast histological method for identifying H pylori in gastric and duodenal biopsies in paraffin sections. Keywords
