Abstract
We present an investigation of electron dynamics occurring on a femtosecond time scale in thin films of undoped and Rb-doped . We have studied the dependence of the observed dynamics on laser intensity as well as temperature. We find strong absorption induced by laser pumping. Electron-density-dependent dynamics are observed on a <1-ps time scale. A discussion of the various scattering mechanisms at work is presented.
