Abstract
An alternative procedure for the approach used by Ichimaru and Rosenbluth on transport problems of a plasma in a uniform magnetic field including the effects of fluctuating electric fields is proposed. The resultant kinetic equation reduces to the Rostoker equation in the case of a quiescent plasma and reduces to the quasilinear diffusion equation if the effects of the self‐field of particles are ignored. The transverse particle diffusion coefficient obtained by our approach reduces to well‐known classical results as special cases. Keywords
