Abstract
The lattice-dynamic properties of a crystal of the perowskite type are examined theoretically using potassium jodate as an example. The possible lattice vibrations for the symmetry Pm3m, R[unk]m and Pm have been derived and the direction of the amplitudes for each atom has been calculated. A correlation of the vibrations in the different symmetries is made on the basis of compatibility relations.
