Abstract
The frequent use of fetal ultrasound is allowing early (prenatal) diagnosis of numerous uropathies previously delayed until the child either became symptomatic or had a palpable mass. An increasing number of neonates, presenting for repair of obstructions, especially ureteropelvic junction obstruction is anticipated. To evaluate this disorder in infants, the experience with ureteropelvic junction obstruction during the last 6 yr in 16 infants < 1 yr old was reviewed. Principles of evaluation, surgical techniques and results are presented. No secondary procedures were necessary and most neonates show dramatic improvement in the parenchymal mass and intrarenal anatomy. This publication has 7 references indexed in Scilit:
