Abstract
Of the three diiodobenzenes the 1,3- and 1,4-isomer react with BI3 to give the corresponding bis(diiodoboryl)benzenes. Due to the electronic acceptor properties of the BI2-group the formation of the 1,3-isomer is favored over the 1,4-product. Attempts to prepare the 1,2-bis(diiodoboryl)benzene resulted in the formation of a dibenzo-1,4-diborine derivative.
