Abstract
Glands are spread on slides in usual way after staining 15-20 minutes in accto-carmine. A glycero-carmine solution is prepared by dissolving carmine in warm glycerine and then filtering. A few drops of aceto-carmine may be added to acidify the solution. The glycero-carmine is drawn under the cover-slip with the aid of a piece of absorbent paper. Excess glycerine is then removed by immersing the slide in alcohol. The slide is sealed with balsam. Slides so prepared have remained in good 1651 condition for 1 1/2 yr. after mounting. With this technique none of the chromosomal material of the glands is lost.
