Grasshopper Control in Alfalfa with Hexachlorocyclohexane Dust

Abstract
Tests in alfalfa fields with hexachlorocyclohexane gave good control of grasshoppers when dust containing 8% y isomer was applied at the rate of 10 lb. per acre. When this conc. was reduced, control was proportionally less effective. There was variation between different sample prepns. Grasshoppers not killed within 24 hrs. remained active. No residual or phytotoxic effects were apparent. Velsicol 1068, as a 10% technical material in talc, at 10 lb. per acre, was not satisfactory in controlling grasshoppers.
