Abstract
1. Modifications of the ultrasonic scanning head are described. 2. Separation of the emitting and receiving crystals provided a more intense reflected signal and improved resolution. 3. Modification of the water bag coupler eliminated the plastic interface and prevented distortion of soft tissues from pressure. 4. The results of the investigation of breast lesions with these modifications are reported.
