Abstract
Experimental infection of H. asiaticum and O. papillipes with C. burnetii and D. sibericus [Rickettsia sibirica] and individual study of these arthropods by the fluorescent antibody method, ordinary microscopy and titration on laboratory animals revealed the development of combined rickettsial infection in these ticks. The 1st agent obtained by the vector either prevents the reproduction of the heterological agent or inhibits its activity. During concurrent infection with 2 spp. of rickettsiae the reproduction of both agents is suppressed. The development of the combined rickettsial infection in ticks is an example of irregular competition as one of the types of competitive relationships. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
