Abstract
The metabolism of glucose was studied in 21 obese patients by using the oral glucose tolerance test. Blood pyruvate acid and lactic acid were estimated to determine whether there was a delay in oxidizing the breakdown products of glucose. There was no significant difference between pyruvate levels of the obese and control groups, but there was a rise in the lactate-pyruvate ratio in the obese group at the end of 3 hours, due to a significant increase in the blood lactic-acid.This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
