Growth in White-Tailed Deer Fawns Fed Varying Energy and Constant Protein

Abstract

In the fall a 40% restriction in energy intake caused a 76% reduction in body fat deposition but no significant decrease in body weight or protein deposition (P > 0.05). As energy intake was restricted, urine N increased suggesting use of dietary protein for energy.
