Abstract
The position, length, and content of 78 appendices from perinates and of 125 from children and adults were studied at autopsy. The retrocaecal appendix was commonest among the children and adults, and the pelvic appendix among the perinates. The average length of the appendix of the perinate was 4.2 cm. and that of the children and adults was 9.6 cm. Extreme mobility of the caecum was noted in about 62 per cent of the cadavers in both groups of subjects. Parasitic infection of the appendix was high in the children and adults group. Keywords
