Abstract
A review of the more important work during the preceding 5 or 6 years, with a bibliography of 60 titles. The chief topics considered are: cytoplasmic differentiation, the plasma membrane, variations in pseudopods, "hairy" amoebas, ectoplasmic ridges, endoplasmic crystals, contractile vacuoles, metaplastic grains, nucleus, chromatin, cytoplasmic division, mitosis, chromidia, flagellate stages, genetics, regeneration, amoeboid movement, and behavior. New matter is presented under "hairy" amoebas on Pontifex; on the procyst stage in Chaos diffluens, the common large amoeba; on the influence of temperature on amoeboid movement; on behavior, in the pinching into 2 of ciliates by amoebas. Special attention is directed to the unsatisfactory state of knowledge regarding the occurrence of chromidia and sporulation in the common large amoeba.
